Fresher Program
Camp Kangaroobie Freshers and Mentors.
At St Hilda’s our Fresher Program is a comprehensive one which involves the whole College. It outlines what it takes to become an independent learner and introduces first year students to the different expectations between studying at secondary level and university and the adjustment to living in a College community.
Working with the Academic staff, students will be given advice on getting the most out of attending seminars and tutorials, and how to write effective essays and do well in exams. Following this introduction, students will enrol in tutorial sessions appropriate for their course of study.
The Student Club provides constant peer support so the transition to College is a smooth one, commencing with Welcome Day followed by a busy O’week schedule, finishing with Camp Kangaroobie. Throughout this time, students will meet the College Staff, be introduced to College life by our Student Leaders during O’Week and guided on the formalities of the College by Mentors.
