Tutorial Program

Our students receive small group teaching by resident and non resident tutors who are outstanding university graduates at various stages of their academic or professional careers.

At a time when university class sizes are growing, the small tutorial class size ensures our students receive specific attention and guidance in their field of study.

St Hilda’s College currently has twelve tutors in residence and twenty four non-resident tutors. The College holds more than sixty tutorials a week with class sizes ranging from three to ten students.

Our small learning environments enhance and build upon a student’s understanding of the course material held at the University. College tutorials are intended to supplement and extend the work covered in University classes.

Our resident tutors are also available for individual consultations when difficulties are encountered or assistance with studies is required.

The range of tutorials available each year depends on subjects undertaken by current students.  In cases where the College does not provide a particular tutorial, students have the opportunity to attend a tutorial at another college at the College’s expense.

Our student evaluation procedure contributes to ensuring the overall quality of our tutorial program is of the highest standard and value.

Additional support is provided for both students and tutors through our network of Senior Academic Advisers and Fellows.
