Student Meals

St Hilda's College prides itself on the range and quality of the food it provides its residents.

All meals are prepared in-house by our own qualified chefs.

This ensures we are able to respond to the particular needs of our students as well as ensuring the highest standards with menu preparation and fresh ingredients are maintained. Comments and suggestions are always welcomed.

All meals are held in the Sugden Dining Room. Residents receive three meals a day - breakfast, lunch and dinner - seven days a week, with drinks and snacks always available.

Particular attention is given to developing evening meals to ensure there is always a variety.

High Table dinners are held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, when academic undergraduate gowns are worn. These dinners are attended by the Principal, Vice Principal and Tutors.

All breakfasts, lunches and dinners from Friday to Sunday, are a walk through buffet with a selection of meal options. Students may go back for more if still hungry!

Early and late dinners are provided during the week for students who are unable to attend normal evening dinners due to course commitments or special sport training.

Students who will be off site during lunchtime may also request a packed lunch form our chefs.

Formal Occasions

There are at least three formal dinners at which all members of the College are expected to dress accordingly. On these occasions, the acceptable dress for women is a dinner dress, for men a dinner or lounge suit and academic gown.

Visiting Guests and Speakers

From time to time, the College invites special guests and speakers to address the College. Guest speakers are often members of the University or public life who have achieved a certain public standing, recognition for their achievements and contribution to the community.
