BBQ Area
The College has a large outdoor BBQ and deck area for alfresco dining, located in the beautifully landscaped garden comprising drought-resistant plants.
Bike Lockers
The College has 16 bike lockers. These are available to students on a first come, first serve basis.
Common Rooms
The Junior Common Room and the Cato Room are lounge areas with large TV plasma screens with Foxtel and DVD player available. There are also billiard and table tennis tables.
Cleaning
All student rooms are cleaned once a week by our cleaning staff.
Computer Laboratory
Computers in the laboratory are available for educational purposes, with 24 hour access to all students. The IT Coordinator has oversight of the operation of the Computer Laboratory and is assisted by the College’s IT Officer and the Student Network Support Team.
Laundry Facilities
Laundry facilities are available in four buildings. Washing machines and dryers are operated free of charge, and washing lines, drying rooms and ironing facilities are also available.
Library
The Alice Paton Library is available to all members of the College for study and access to resource materials. The collection is intended to supplement materials found in the larger libraries on the University campus. It comprises reference books, fiction, non-fiction, periodicals, non-print media and other study materials.
Music Practice Room
The College supports students who are creative and passionate about their music. Our facilities include a grand piano and three upright pianos.
Network Computer Access
Each student room is equipped with a data outlet to access the network.
Access to the University, Internet and e-mail is also available through the computer laboratory. A quota system is enforced for Internet traffic with 12 Gig provided free each year. Students may purchase additional quota on request.
Parking
A limited number of parking permits are available each year. They are allocated according to seniority.
Photocopying
A photocopier for student use is located in the Alice Paton Library.
Security
St Hilda’s College maintains a high level of security. An external security company undertakes random nightly patrols of our property and sixteen security cameras monitor the College’s entrances and fences. A resident duty tutor is always available outside office hours.
Student Shop
Located in the foyer of the Junior Common Room, the Student Shop is stocked and staffed by the Student Club and is open for a short time after the evening meal.
Telephone
All student rooms have a telephone with answering facility.
