The Green Plan

The College Administration has commenced work on a plan to improve the environmental footprint of the College.

Our Green Plan focuses on four main areas:

Green Focus 1:
The elimination of Incandescent lights wherever possible.
While this has largely already been achieved, there are still a small number of areas where they remain, for example, in the ceiling of the Auditorium.

Green Focus 2:
Planting College gardens with drought resistant grasses and plants.
This has already been undertaken in the Back Quad, with the Front Quad due for renovation in late 2009.

Green Focus 3:
The expansion of our facilities to collect and store rainwater to be used on the College gardens.
Some three 22,000 litre tanks have already been installed harvesting water from the roofs for D, E, F and G Blocks and the new Brian James Wing. In 2008-2009 further tanks will be installed collecting water from the roofs of B Block and the Principal’s Residence.

Green Focus 4:
The installation of solar panels on the roofs of accommodation blocks to assist with power generation and offset electricity costs.

To make a gift to support our Green Plan, please download our Gift Form or contact our Registrar at registrar@hildas.unimelb.edu.au or telephone on
