Selection
The quality of college life is determined by its residents, so we take particular care in our admissions process.
We are looking for people with a strong desire to contribute to college life. Those who will make the most of their college experience both academically and socially.
Preference
Traditionally, we have catered for students studying at The University of Melbourne, however, places are also available for students attending:
- Australian Catholic University - Melbourne Campus
- Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology - City Campus (not TAFE)
- Monash School of Pharmacy
Students planning to enter other courses may also apply, if they believe they can make a unique contribution to the College or have special needs.
Interviews
All applicants are interviewed after the VCE examination period. You will initially be interviewed by the Principal or Vice-Principal, and then by a group of senior students.
Interviews provide the opportunity for you to tell us why you would excel at St Hilda’s. The interview panel will want to know about your past achievements. These may be: sporting, academic, artistic or community spirited achievements.
You will also be asked to provide copies of your school reports and letters of recommendation.
Interviews conducted by other students, give applicants an opportunity to gain a better idea of the interests and backgrounds of current students. This will help you to decide whether you would enjoy St Hildas. It also provides an opportunity to ask questions from those with first hand experience of college life.
