How to Apply

1. Complete and Submit the Application Form
Complete the common application form: College and Halls of Residence - Application for Admission as a Resident Student. Click here to make an online application.

It is important to ensure the application fee and passport photographs are forwarded immediately or provided with the hard copy application form. This documentation must be received by the College before the application process can formally commence and an interview can be arranged.

2. Acknowledgment of Receipt of Application
St Hilda’s College will formally write to the applicant and his/her parents. Applicants are sent a Prospective Student Questionnaire which invites them to provide in writing information about: their course and career aspirations; academic interests; extracurricular activities; employment and work experience; participation in student exchange programs; leadership experiences; and non-academic achievements.

3. Academic and Personal Referees
St Hilda’s College will contact an applicant’s nominated Academic and Personal Referees and request them to complete the appropriate reference questionnaire. The referees are asked to comment in writing on: the applicant’s suitability for residential life; potential for success at university; and other qualities considered important aspects for assimilating into college life.

4. Personal Interview
Interviews are conducted at St Hilda’s College during the first two weeks in December, following the VCE examination period. Receipt of all written references is required before the interview. Applicants are interviewed firstly by the Principal or Vice Principal, and then by one student interviewer.

Interstate and Overseas Applicants:
Overseas applicants are interviewed, normally by the Principal, by telephone. Interstate applicants who are unable to travel to Melbourne for an interview are offered either a telephone interview or the opportunity to be interviewed by the Head of a similar college in their home state. These Heads are briefed about our selection process and criteria and provide a detailed written report of any interviews they undertake on behalf of St Hilda’s College.

5. Final Information Required to Complete the Application Process
Applicants must provide the Registrar with all the following information:
·         Any changes to correspondence address and full contact details for the Admissions Period from December to mid February
·         VTAC Number
·         Academic Results for the end of the year (secondary or tertiary)
·         ENTER Score (Equivalent National Tertiary Entrance Ranking)
